One of the most important things you can do as an ecig user is to maintain your equipment in like new condition. This will allow for the best user experience possible and also allow your ecigarette to stand the test of time.
Too often we see and hear of people complaining about durability of their vape kits, however quite often it is because of poor maintenance that a fault has occurred.
This applies to all vaping equipment, however today we are going to focus on you vape tank. Be it your Wotofo Serpent RTA; Geekvape Ammit 25 RTA; or any other ecig tank you own – some standard rules apply for keeping it in tip top shape.
Top Tips for a healthy Vape Tank
1. Clean you tank
To clean the vape tank, follow these steps: before the replacement coil is inserted into the tank use a cotton bud to clean the inside by gently wiping it around. Make sure you get into the spots where the coil screws into the atomiser as well. Also look to clean all of the threads on the tank as the last thing you want is eliquid being pushed out when tightened! Finally, don’t forget to clean your drip tip before finalising your coil replacement.
Do you see it as a chore? More effort than it is worth? Well you shouldn’t! Quite often vapers have to replace their coils, it’s a natural part of vaping. Why not commit to cleaning your tank while replacing your coils every time? This combines the effort of cleaning with something that you have to do anyway!
We’ll start with an obvious one. Keeping your tank clean will extend the life of your vape tank significantly. It is the most basic and easy maintenance procedure you can do, yet people often neglect this small fact.
2. Avoid getting liquid in the centre tube
If your ecig tank is leaking or making strange noises this is often a sign that there is liquid in the centre tube. An easy way to clear this is by blowing into the centre tube with a piece of cloth around the tank.
When filling your tank, getting liquid in the centre tank tube is a sure fire way make you tank life shorter. As such take extra care when filling your tank!
3. Keep the tank full
I little known fact is that tanks tend not to last as long if they are often used with low amount of eliquid in. Therefore keep your tank topped up to the max as much as possible to get the longest life out of your beloved RTA.
4. Change your Atomiser head
Usually your atomiser head will last between 10 – 20 days, depending on how much you vape (for us we’re closer to 10 because we love vaping so much!). However, it is often best to replace your atomiser head before it wears down fully. This is because when it wears down you will often find it starts to leak. This can shorten the lifespan of your vape tank significantly, so make sure you’re not vaping with an old atomiser head.
5. Wipe the battery contact area
When removing your tank it is usual to find residue of eliquid on the battery contact area. Before replacing your tank make sure you wipe this down with some tissue. Depending on how much you vape and how often you refill your tank with liquid, you should also consider removing your tank every few days and wiping down the battery contact to preserve the tanks condition.
If you follow the above steps and take care of your vape tank regularly then you will not only maximise its shelf-life (and save yourself money in the process!), but you will also maximise your vaping experience as a perfectly functioning tank will provide a better vape.
